Straight after the evening shoot at Karekare, drove into the city to meet a photography friend, Mathew Wong, who has put his own shots into his flickR gallery
Only managed to take a handful of shots, but was more interested in having a chat about photography styles.

Managed to arrange a short notice meet up with some photographer friends (from www.gkpe.org.nz / photography-on-the.net) where we discussed travel/camera gear/beers and had a good laugh.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter also made an appearance, now operating from a different rego/helicopter – ZK-HLN instead of the old outdated ZK-HHV. In late 2006, I saw the progress of the rebuild, adding a more powerful motor and extra features such as night vision goggles and collision avoidance system. Click to see the build photos
Limited by a short 105mm lens again, as 300mm back in UK

After the recovery period from recent travels, ventured down to Napier for the wedding of Amy and Craig. The weather was stunning 27°C – in fact a touch too hot for all who were dressed for the occassion. The ceremony was held at the Botanical Gardens, with some photos afterwards along the beach where Craig proposed, as well as the port where the massive Queen Victoria was docked.

After staying a night in Phuket, took the early morning ferry to Phi Phi Don Island, (Ton Sai Bay). Thanks to my friend Karuna, saved the 350 Baht fare and sat in the air conditioned bridge with the captain.

Met up with a fellow photographer and friend, Darren, and took a walk along the Thames South Bank between Westminster and Tower Bridge, before returning for night shots around the embankment opposite London Eye. Plenty of other people out doing the picturesque walk, and came across many buskers.

Revisited Saint Margaret’s on Cliffe, on a calm Sunday afternoon. My cousin Steven was in tow, and a good photo subject! Beats some of the exile I’ve experienced whilst travelling around.

Whilst on the London Underground network, heading towards Buckingham Palace on the Victoria line, this station surprisingly grabbed my eye 😉

I was invited along to do some photography for Hawley Clay Shooting Ground to update their photos, and create a new shooting challenge 😉
Set amongst Kentish countryside, alongside the M25 – Colourful fields were a fine backdrop.

Members of the Photography-on-the.net/forum website have pieced together a masterpiece of a book. Featuring 12 sections, 160 pages, and several hundred photos, I was fortunate enough to have 3 of my own images selected.
The signature shots, and sections can be found here: http://potn.smugmug.com/gallery/2697840
Warren and Kirst in Fiji – (People)
Sheep on Summit Road, Christchurch – (Nature & Animals)
Jonah Lomu – (Sport)
The book is available for US$39.95 plus shipping via Blurb.com – Shipping costs are quite high for one book, but significantly cheaper for multiple books.

As the road unwinds between Callendar and Loch Lomond, the striking beauty of Loch Lubnaig captures your eye. Despite the miserable weather at the time, there were many camped up, on the pebbled shore.

Located near the Scottish border in the Northumberland county, Bamburgh Castle is one of England’s finest. Sitting on a basalt outcrop, the castle has impressive views across the North Sea. It was too early in the day to explore around the castle itself, but will head back there closer to Christmas.

After buying a cheap travel car, during the previous week, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to drive up to Newcastle to see my friend Adam. Last time I saw him, was July 2005, when he came to New Zealand also travelling through Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. It was solely for him, after seeing his photos from his travels that inspired myself to travel to the amazing temples of Cambodia.
He used a pocket sized digital camera, but came away with memories he will keep for a lifetime. You can view his photos here: http://wazza.nfscity.com/world/

Was a guest at a wedding for family friends, and was asked to take the camera along to get a few snaps. Stratford Manor was a fine wedding venue, and the weather turned out great.

After visiting the monkeys, we skimmed past Viking Cave, which is generally closed to the public. Cave swifts live in here, producing edible bird nests, worth up to several thousand dollars per kilo. Further Southward, along the Eastern coast of Phi Phi Le, we went snorkelling under the towering limestone cliffs. Coral built up on the edge, before the water depth, disappeared into unknown hidden depths, straight down.
Sheer cliffs in every direction
Harsh lighting made it difficult to get any decent shots at Maya Bay. The cliffs are so large, you need about 10 frames just to cover it all. I can see why Leonardo DiCaprio enjoyed himself here!
