Canterbury Cathedral, Kent, is one of the oldest Christian structures in England. With history going back 1400 years, the architecture of this amazing cathedral cannot be compared to anything else. Several hours could easily be consumed in looking through every nook and cranny, and visiting the library of 30,000 books. In the limited time I had, still managed to view the main galleries and prayer rooms.

Two months have passed now since landing in the UK, and so far quite relieved to have seen many wonderful sights. The next few months will be interesting, with light rapidly fading away, as autumn and winter approach.

The recent fine weather continued, and took the opportunity to catch a train into London on this Friday night, to venture further than Tower Bridge. I’ve been eager to visit both London Eye and Big Ben for the past few weeks. The sites didn’t disappoint, especially with the fine detail observed on Big Ben. I’ll head back to London Eye another time to capture views across London, but this time my feet remained firmly on the ground.

En route from Canterbury to another visit to Saint Margaret’s at Cliffe, the sun was setting fast. I had left too late, and not allowed enough time to travel the tight country lanes, short cutting through the Kentish countryside. As the sun flared up, I decided to pull over, just 5min away from Saint Margaret’s to get these:

Samphire Hoe, Kent, is the special place, created by reclaiming land at the base of Shakespeare Cliff. The soil used, was from the Channel Tunnel, so will hold place in history for many years to come. Featuring a mile long sea wall, fishing, walkways and incredible views, definitely worth a visit when heading South-West out of Dover.

Hadrian’s Wall, Northern England was built by the Roman Emperor, Hadrian, in AD 122.
These shots were taken in the area, with some of the ruins – Hadrian’s Wall is thicker than the wall seen here
