Third and final day in Sydney, took a lovely ferry trip from Circular Quay to Manly, enjoying the sights of Sydney Harbour. Manly is another popular surf beach, located North of the harbour entrance. The beach was swarmed with people as well as an apparently unusual seaweed washed ashore, in the autumn heat.

Part of the bus tour also included a trip out to the Eastern suburbs and Bondi Beach. Bondi is one of the world’s most well known beaches, with its aboriginal name meaning “water breaking over rocks”

Flew into Sydney during the early hours of the morning for a three day quick sightseeing trip with my mum who lives in Melbourne. Sydney is Australia’s largest city with just over 4 million residents, surrounding the beautiful Sydney Harbour and coastline of New South Wales. First day in Sydney involved plenty on long walks around the CBD, Opera House and finally a walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, for a spectacular view of the bridge and CBD from Luna Park.

(Reposted from last year, showing vast stretch from CBD to the beaches of Bondi in foreground and Manly across the mouth of harbour)

With some relatively clear weather, made a final trip to my grandfather’s observatory. Now featuring an 8″ Celestron telescope to replace the previous 10″Meade LX200 scope.

On my last chance to visit a local West coast beach, decided to head out to Karekare, as I had yet to visit this summer. Took along my youngest sister Candace, before jetting off to Australia and London.

Managed to go beach hopping again, with my photography friend Phillip. Ventured into the stunning Whatipu Caves on the Northern end of beach, before heading to Bethells and O’Neills for sunset.

After Ron & Kim’s recent wedding, which unfortunately was rather wet, I offered to shoot some casual portraits at their favourite west coast beach, Bethells.

Rotorua is a popular spot for it’s geothermal activity, with plenty of mud pools, geysers and pungent sulphur smells throughout the air.

Spent a hot afternoon snorkelling with the fishes at the Goat Island marine reserve, an hour North of Auckland. One day I’ll consider an underwater camera, to capture the beauty below the water’s surface.
