Took a morning gut wrenching walk up to the main lookout over Phi Phi Don, which was made worse by the searing heat.
The main habited part of Phi Phi is surrounded by two bays, Loh Dalam Bay in the North, and Ton Sai Bay from the South.

The sunset tour boat gave two options to visit Maya Bay –
Swim and climb through the cave from the other side, or take the boat in and kayak or longtail boat onto the shore. I chose to kayak through the shallow low tide waters. The scenery is still stunning, however there’s no life left within the water. Overcrowded, too many old dirty longtail boats leaking oil/fuel into the once pristine water.

Being the peak of the tourist season, the 4 hour sunset cruise, including snorkelling and kayaking had gone up from 350 to 500 Baht since 7 months ago, when I was last in Thailand.
The trip was well worth the NZ$20, with the impressive sights of sheer cliffs and some of the warmest water you’ll ever encounter.

Decided to reprocess some of my favourites from Thailand and Cambodia – as the UK weather at the moment hasn’t been too great lately. Due to travel through Thailand for five nights during early February, on my return trip to NZ.
Railay Bay – Thailand

Made a last minute decision on Friday to head down to Hastings, as saw an opening in the weather which over the past week had been rather miserable, with rain, snow and sleet. Despite the clear skies, and what looks like warmth in the photos below, the temperature started below zero, with everything frozen.

The modern Golden Jubilee Bridges, linking the West End with the South Bank have created a great walkway along London’s most breath-taking scenery. Encompassing the Thames, London Eye and the Houses of Parliament. A waxing crescent moon was also present high above London Eye.

The second trip up The Storr, in just over 12 hours was worthwhile. Leaving in darkness, the light gradually came through timing sunrise for the time I reached the Old Man of Storr rock formations. The strong winds moved the clouds and light around every minute.
Snow and ice still can be seen in the early morning

In search of the fabled Loch Ness Monster, the weather was closing in fast. Seeing the sun disappearing behind the dark clouds, took some photos from Dores on the Eastern coast of the great lake.
After spending the late afternoon in Inverness, drove around back down the Western side of Loch Ness heading towards Isle of Skye. Half way along the lake, Urqhart Castle stands out, flood lit across the view of the lake.

On the road from Newcastle to Loch Ness, decided to pass through Edinburgh to see the castle. Held up in long queues through the one way traffic system, only managed a shot from outside in the carpark. (£4 charge for 6min was quite extortionist)

20 miles South of Newcastle, the sign pointing to Peterlee has caught my eye the past couple of times I’ve driven past. Tonight, I stopped on the offramp from the A1 dual carriageway, and took this shot – Peter Lee is also the name of one of my best friends in Auckland – so this one’s for him.
